Well this weekend saw another action packed weekend for the 82nd Scouts! Despite a very wet start on the Saturday morning, the weather luckily took a turn for the better during our minibus journey to St Fagans, and although windy remained dry for the day! The trip to St Fagans, was both enjoyable and educational with 3 minibuses full of Beavers, Cubs and Scouts exploring a large outdoor museum, which included: a castle, church, manor house, beautiful gardens, farm buildings, cottages and old fashion shops. There was lots to keep young and old alike busy; exploring, learning and asking questions. While at St Fagans everyone tucked into a well received lunch of sausages, chips and beans!
As the day came to end we travelled back to the Scout HQ where once again Emma had been whipping up a storm! (It was greatly appreciated Emma, so thank you so much!). The children had home cooked lasanage, potatoes, salad and crusty bread for tea followed by ice cream! After a few games, a film and some hot chocolate the children snuggled into their sleeping bags for a least a few hours sleep! A massive thank you goes to the Leaders, Young Leaders and minibus drivers for all their help in making the trip (and camp!) possible.
The Sunday morning saw 63 Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Young Leaders and Leaders lined up in full uniform (and looking VERY smart indeed) ready to set off to Remberance Day parade at the Royal British Legion, Whitchurch. The children took part in a short parade and joined the members from the legion for a small service at St Nicholas' Church before marching back to the legion to be dismissed. The event saw the children sporting new Poppy Woggles, which received lots of interested from members from the British Legion.
The leaders are all so incredibly proud of how smart everyone looked and how amazingly they all behaved - not just for the parade and service but also while walking to and from the legion from the Scout HQ. So many people attending the service stopped leaders to praise the exceptional behaviour and appearance of all those from the 82nd which goes to show what a credit they are not just to them selves but to the whole group in the way they represent Scouting when they are out and about.
Our massive thank you goes to the children, for their brilliant behaviour and enthuasiam and also to all of our parents and friends for never failing to support us 100% in all that we do. (On that note, thank you to the parents that walked with us from the Scout HQ to the legion!) Days like today, remind all of the Leadership team why we volunteer like we do - because the children always make it so worth it!
