Saw a team of Scouts take part in a day of hiking in the Black Mountains in the Brecon Beacons. Weather was a bit hit and miss, with rain showers to start but the sun shone through in time for a lunch stop near the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain. As it was a follow on hike from our day Hike to Cheddar in February it provided opportunity for Scouts to independently map read and to develop existing skills and building confidence with outdoor navigation in preparation for an over-night expedition in September. The Scouts worked so amazingly as a team and were so keen to learn as much as they could throughout the day. It was a real pleasure to spend the day with them! Well done to all those that took part, as at times it was hilly and terrain was much tougher than previous hikes but one and all got completely stuck in and it was great to take Scouting right back to basics – and out into the outdoors!
